Eric L. Camel Sr., 60, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church. He was a brown belt karate instructor. He was owner and operator of City Spring Service for over 35 years. He was an avid hunter and fisher man. He loved the outdoors, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Dianna Martarona Camel of Lake Charles; sons, Eric Camel Jr. and wife Angela of Lake Charles, Phillip Camel and wife Jerica of Carlyss, Michael Camel Sr. and wife Tanya of Lake Charles, Daniel Camel of Moss Bluff, and Adam Camel and wife Anne of Gillis; brothers, Ernest Broussard of Grand Lake and C.J. Broussard and wife Ursula of Lake Charles. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dante, Reece, Cade, Carys, Cohen, Alyssa, William, Kaitlyn, Michael Jr., Lindsey and Braden. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Bernard Camel; parents, Lindsey and Eldie Camel; mother and father-in-law Vincent and Ruby Martarona; brothers, Darnell, Kenneth and Donald; sisters, Earline, Esther and Dorsey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church. Rev. Albert Borel will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Westlake Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013 and 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake. A Scripture Service will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at Hixson Funeral Home in Westlake.
