Erna, age 93, was born at home in Lithuania on May 9, 1920 as Erna Shulskus and went to be with the Lord, on August 29, 2013. She was part of a family of 3 girls and 3 boys. Some of her siblings still live in Germany to this day.
Erna married Joseph Andriekus in 1936 and had four children. Following World War 11,
Erna and Joseph moved to Michigan in 1951 being sponsored by Basil Freeman, a farmer who lived near Webberville. Erna and Joe worked hard and saved up their money and bought a farm in Williamston in 1953. Erna's famous saying was "We came to the US with three children, three suitcases and could not speak English, we were dumb, (only because we could not speak English)
Erna is preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1997 and Erna stayed on the farm until she passed away in a Charlotte, Michigan Hospice House. She is survived by daughters, Ruth (William) Gruhn and Linda Anriekus (Who was the only one born in the US) and sons Bernard (Lillian) Andriekus and Paul (Martha) Andriekus; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was a good and loving Mom and will be greatly missed.
Celebration of Life will be 12:00 pm, September 3, 2013 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, Williamston Chapel, 205 E. Middle St. Williamston, MI 48895, with Pastor Richard Bishop officiating. The family will be receiving visitors from 10:00-12:00 am prior to the service.
