Ernest C. Alvarado August 16, 1924 - August 19, 2011 Visitation for "Ernie" Alvarado will be held at Delano Mortuary on August 25, 2011 from 4pm-8pm with the Rosary recital at 6pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church on Friday, August 26, 2011 at 9am, Interment will follow at Delano Cemetery. Ernest was born in Delano Ca to Natalia C. Sanchez on August 16, 1924 and passed away with his family by his side on August 19, 2011. His passion in life was "goin' fishin" and listening to"Big Band"" music of Tommy Dorsey and Glen Miller on the way to the lake, leaving his grandsons with this fond memory. He shared many a fishing trip with family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Grandpa / dad leaves his family with treasured memories of over 30 years of annual trips to June Lake, Ca, fishing the June Lake loop and Rush Creek up until his health prevented him from making the trip, his last trip included an ambulance ride and an "overnighter" at Mammoth Hospital with the Dr.'s telling us to "take him back to the lake" and we did just that. He instilled the love in us for the eastern sierras, one of his grandsons was even married there, Dad, we will never forget breakfasts at "The Stove", dinners at "Carson Peak Inn", and stops at "Schotts bakery." Ernest was inducted into the US Army in 1945 and recieved numerous medals while serving in Japan and the Philipines. He was retired from the US Postal Service as a letter carrier after 23 years. Ernest met and married the love of his life, Carmen Canales Alvarado and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 1, 2011. He is preceeded in death by his mother, Natalia C. Sanchez and sister Dolores Golatz He is survived by his wife, Carmen C. Alvarado, daughters, Carolyn Alvarado of Delano, Ca, Cathy Alvarado of La Mesa, Ca. sister, Magdalena Moreno and Felix of Glendale, Arizona, brothers, Frank C. Sanchez of Eugene, Ore, Henry Sagayno and Martha of Turlock, Ca, and Viviano Alvarado of Delano, Ca. Grandsons, Marc A. Venegas and Micaela, Erik G. Venegas and Katie, 3 great grandaughters, Andrea, Adrienne, and Marissa Venegas all of Bakersfield, Ca. and numerous neices and nephews. Pall bearers will be Marc A. Venegas, Erik G. Venegas, Dr. Lynous Hall, Salvador Cruz, Jerry Macias, and Armando Jimenez. Honarary Pall bearers will be, Henry Sagayno, Felix Moreno, Vincent Zaragoza, and Rudy Rivera. Our family would like to thank Dr. Sadegh Salmassi, Dr. Sam Shields, care coordinator Eric Sandoval, the physical therapy Dept. at Golden Living Center of Bakersfield and Mercy Hospice for their special care.
