Ester "Britt" Hopkins, age 89, of Front Royal passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Evergreen Health and Rehab in Winchester.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Britt was born on September 19, 1923 in Pikeville, KY a son of the late William John and Naomi Elizabeth Sweeney Hopkins. He was a painter and Baptist by faith. He enjoyed fishing. He served in the Army during WWII.
Mr. Hopkins is survived by his son, Amos Damron and wife Tina of Stephens City; his daughters, Sandra Lillard and husband Billy of Oakton and Kathy Hawkins and husband Jesse of Front Royal; his nine grandchildren and his fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Vivian Blair Hopkins in 1996; his two brothers; and his 6 sisters.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Hawkins, Billy Lillard, III, Sean Lillard, Jason Lillard, Nick Damron, Paul Hicks, Ronnie Thompson and Josh Burrows.
