Esther Marion Campbell Amadon, 79, a resident of Keene, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH., following a period of declining health.
She was born May 18, 1932 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of Andrew and Edith (Scoville) Campbell. She was a 1950 graduate of Agawam High School in Massachusetts, and attended Keene State College. On November 7, 1953 she married the love of her life, Ronald P. Amadon, and the two of them began a life together here in Keene. For many years Esther worked as a telephone operator and then later as a Sales Representative for Douglas Cuddle Toy.
Esther loved to be with her family and especially enjoyed being with her husband, whether they were traveling or just spending time around their home. She enjoyed cooking and was very clever at coming up with new recipies for her family to try. She was a member of the Extension Homemakers of New Hampshire, a group of people who are devoted to their work as homemakers. She was also a proud member of the Red Hat Association in Keene. She was also a published author and poet. For a short time she studied painting under Richard Whitney.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years: Ronald P. Amadon of Keene, NH., her daughter: Brenda Amadon of Keene, NH, her brother: Walter "Hap" Campbell and his wife Pat of Walpole, NH, her granddaughter: Stacie Amadon of FL, her great-granddaughter: Kaileigh Stevens of FL, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her son: Gary Amadon and her brother: Howard Campbell and his wife Dorothy.
A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church of Christ, Central Square in Keene, NH, on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11:30am. Burial will be in the Monadnock View Cemetery prior to the Memorial Service, at 10am. There will be no calling hours.
