IRMO – Eston R. Lockwood, 73, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013. Eston "Buddy" was born on February 17, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Albert L. Lockwood and Nadine F. Peltier Lockwood.
Buddy joined the United States Army in 1957 at the age of 17, and served his country for 24 years as a Communications Engineer in the Signal Corps. He defended our country in the Vietnam War and served on US Installations in 5 countries. Buddy was a highly decorated serviceman, having received nine prestigious awards, including two Bronze Stars, the fourth highest individual medal. He was an avid golfer, and raced autos with a team in Europe. He had a huge library of music and had a strong interest in the latest audio technology. Buddy was a devoted family man and was married to JoAnn for 54 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel and a reception will immediately follow at the family home.
Surviving is his wife, JoAnn L. Reetz Lockwood; children, Suzanne L. Gilbert (Bruce W.), Karen K. Locke (Mark C.), Sherri K. Reynolds (Thomas), Tonya N. Downey and Brett J. Lockwood; grandchildren,
Chase M. (Jennifer), Devin A. (Amy), Lindsey P., Kayleigh D., Camrey D., Elyse C., Orry B., Andrew E., Brianna J. (Justin), Conner J. and great grandchildren, Ava June, Ethan and Owen.
