Ethel M. Norton: Savannah, Ga.
Mrs. Ethel M. Rahn Horne Norton, of Savannah, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at the age of 100.
A daughter of the late Jacob Irvin Rahn, Sr. and Missouri Anna Rich Rahn, she was born October 23, 1914 in Savannah. Mrs. Norton was a homemaker and mother, a charter member of Silk Hope Baptist Church in Garden City, member of Palestine Chapter 249 of the Eastern Star, former Sunday School Teacher, former Girl Scout Leader, and a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class at Silk Hope Baptist Church. Mrs. Norton was a descendant of the original Salzberger's. She was twice married, first to Mr. Walter "Buster" N. Horne and then to Mr. Lonnie C. Norton, both which preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Eddie Arthur Horne.
She is survived by six children, Walter D. (Gay Nell) Horne, Albert N. (Lois) Horne, Betty H. (Levis) Yawn, Melvin A. Horne, Edward A. (Bonnie) Horne, and Barbara H. Todd (Joseph) Horne, by a sister, Edna (Horace) Moss, fourteen grandchildren, and a number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015, 2:00 P.M., at Silk Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Jonathan Phillips officiating.
Mrs. Norton will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until the service time on Tuesday at Silk Hope Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Fairhaven Funeral Home-Garden City Chapel from 6 until 8 P.M. on Monday evening.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to The Silk Hope Baptist Church Activity Building Fund, 4929 Pineland Drive, Savannah, Ga. 31405 in memory of Mrs. Ethel M. Norton.
Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembering Aunt Ethel in her car, flying past Daddy's house on her way to church. Most people her age had given up driving long ago!!!
