Eugene Baron Schwing, Sr. passed away at River Regions Hospice on April 1, 2013 at the age of 84. Gene was born in New Orleans, LA in 1928. He graduated from S. J. Peters High School and attended Tulane University. Gene proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a former owner of Chem-Dry of Jefferson and New Orleans. He was a member of the American Legion Kenner Post 377. Gene was predeceased by his wife, Mary L. Picard Schwing; his parents, Selma Myers Schwing and Adrian W. Schwing, Sr.; his brothers: Adrian W. Schwing, Jr., Lloyd C. Schwing: his sister, Selma Schwing Schwartz and his granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Schwing. Gene is survived by his daughter, Mary Katherine Schwing Graffeo (husband, Tom Graffeo) and his son, Eugene Baron Schwing, Jr. (wife, Jodi Twilbeck Schwing). Gene is also survived by his beloved grandsons: LCpl Dominic T. Graffeo, USMC, Anthony G. Graffeo, Ryan N. Schwing and Matthew J. Schwing. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks go to his loving and supportive neighbors and friends, Sharon and Armand Russell and Sandy and Sonny Goff. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11:00 am at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society , 2605 River Rd., New Orleans, LA 70121.
