Evelyn Derrick Robb
CHAPIN - Funeral services for Evelyn "Pitman" Robb, 86, will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church in Chapin, SC with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church, prior to the service. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was the widow of James Jaffrey Robb and the daughter of Mattie Blalock Derrick and Thomas Lionel Derrick. She was predeceased by son, Derry Pitman and brothers, William John Derrick, Robert Jennings Derrick and Boyd Eugene Derrick.
She is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Pitman Smith (Clifton), a sister, Mary Alice Derrick Bryant, son, Deane Pitman of Delaware and two grandchildren, Daniel Joseph DuBois of Chicago and Rachel Elizabeth DuBois of New York City.
She is also survived by eight nieces and a nephew and numerous great- nieces and great-nephews.
She worked at The RL Bryan Co. for 34 years as the Central Telephone Operator. She was the hub of communication and was featured in their publication as the "Personality Behind The Voice". She loved her work and the people she worked with. She was often referred to as "Pitman".
Ms. Robb was a member of Mt Horeb Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Circle. She was known for her kind and generous ways and would lovingly greet you at her door with offers of home baked goods.
In lieu of flowers, she wished donations go to Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, 101 E. Boundry Street, Chapin, SC 29036. She will be missed tremendously by family, friends and neighbors.
