Evelyn was born to Louise and Charles Futschik on the 28th of June 1927, in High Hill, Texas. On the 3rd of November 1948, she married Louis Svoboda. Louis and Evelyn settled in Smithville and started Oak Hill Grain Company in 1950. They owned the business until 1983, when it was sold to the current owners.
Louis and Evelyn raised eight children, installing the virtues of hard work, respect and the tools to succeed in life. In addition, Evelyn’s passions were her daylilies, vegetable gardening, cattle and the Catholic Church.
She is predeceased by her husband, Louis; her parents; and her infant brother, Carl. She is survived by her children, Dolores Leeper and her husband, Harry, Peggy Sauer and her husband, Jim, Linda Braddock and her husband, Craig, Marilyn Svoboda and her husband, Aaron Howard, David Svoboda and his wife, Donna, Carol Bennett and her husband, John, Tracy Fajkus and her husband, Robert, and Loretta Steffanelli and her husband, Patrick. Evelyn is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Sunday, the 7th of August, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 204 Mills Street in Smithville. The recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 8th of August, also at St. Paul Catholic Church, where Rev. Pius T. Mathew is to serve as the celebrant.
The Rite of Committal is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Oak Hill Cemetery. Immediately following the interment, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Parish Hall of St. Paul Catholic Church.
