Felicia Estraca Cantu of Wapato, 80, passed away Wednesday, May 3rd, 2012 in Yakima. She was born in Mathis, Texas on May 1, 1932 to Guadalupe D. and Santiago Estraca. Felicia was a member of the Brownstown Saddle Club, loved to go camping and trail riding, and was a volunteer for the Wapato Food Bank.
On November 25, 1948 she married Norberto "Beto" Cantu. Felicia and "Beto" made their home in Wapato where they raised their three daughters. Throughout the years Felicia continued to volunteer at the Wapato Food Bank, traveled to Texas to attend family reunions, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in White Swan. Her favorite time, however, was spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Felicia is survived by her daughters; Sally "Cookie" Cantu of Wapato, Sunday Cantu of Bellingham, and Rosemary Reyes of Selah, her brothers; Faustino Estraca Sr. and Santos Estraca Sr. both of Bay City, Texas, and Santiago Estraca Jr. of New Jersey, her sisters; Juanita Rodriguez of Moses Lake, Susana Mireles of El Campo, Texas, Angelita Jasso of Victoria, Texas, Maria Tavarez of Yoakum, Texas, and Clara Garza of Seadrift, Texas; her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Santiago and Guadalupe D. Estraca; a brother David Estraca Sr.; and her husband Norberto "Beto" Cantu.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00, Monday at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato, with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home with burial to follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park.
Memorial Donations may be made in Felicia's name to Children's Village or North Star Lodge in care of Merritt Funeral Home.
