Florine (Cookie) Hansen, 86, of Greeley, died December 19, 2012 at her home. She was born November 4, 1926 in Loveland, Colorado to John and Elsie (Kohler) Cook. She graduated from Greeley High School in 1944.
On December 21, 1946 she married Norman L. Hansen of Ault, Colorado. They spent the next 20 years farming in the Ault area. After moving to Greeley in 1965, Norman and Cookie managed the Greeley VFW for the next few years until purchasing the White Horse Inn Tavern in Garden City, Colorado. They were the owner/operators until their retirement in 1986.
Cookie was a charter member of the Ault VFW Auxiliary. She was a loving mother and caretaker to many of her family members through the years.
She is survived by her son Lt. Col. Kip Hansen, USAF, Ret and Nancy of Woodbridge, Virginia; daughter Dawn Rae Stein of Greeley; grandson Mads and Lauren Hansen of Oakton, Virginia; granddaughter Hilary and Alan Smith of Woodbridge, Virginia; step-grandson Heath and Michelle Stein of Lakewood; her adopted grandchildren Shawna and Peter Van Wyhe and their daughter April of Eaton and Jackie Martindale of Peoria, Arizona and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister Geraldine Anderson and son-in-law John Stein.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
