Floyd James FARMER
Floyd James Farmer, 73, of Big Grassy First Nation, Ontario passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at LaVerendrye General Hospital, Fort Frances, Ontario.
Floyd was born March 1, 1937 in International Falls, Minnesota to the late Floyd and Edna Farmer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. When he returned home following the war, he spent a lot of time in Montana and North Dakota. Later in life, Floyd moved to Big Grassy First Nation, Ontario where he loved spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, trapping and guiding. Floyd will be dearly missed by his family and many friends in the United States and Canada.
He was predeceased by one brother, LeRoy Farmer; two sisters, Rose Johnson and Patti Jo Farmer; and one brother-in-law, Alfard Duncan.
Floyd leaves behind two children, Cheryl and husband John Kirk of Pierre, South Dakota, and Daniel Farmer and wife Corinne of Olympia, Washington; four grandchildren, Michaele, Daniel, Chalsey and Danyel; eight great grandchildren, TaraClaire, Jaden, Zachary, Gracee, Jaylen, Mallory, Haley and Kylan; two brothers, David Farmer and wife Marlene of International Falls, MN., Mike Farmer of Chico Hot Springs, Montana; and one sister, June Duncan of St. Augustine, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation will take place at Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Minnesota.
A memorial service to celebrate Floyd's life will be held at Big Grassy First Nation, Ontario at a later date.
