Francis William "Sully"/"Sonny" Sullivan, passed away January 1, 2013 in Newport Beach, CA at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice.
An eighth generation Californian, Francis was born on April 2, 1920 in Los Angeles. After graduation from Hamilton High School, he went on to proudly serve in the Coast Guard during World War II. He married his wife, Janice, in 1943 and settled in Pacific Palisades. They later moved to Orange County where he spent the remainder of his life; expanding his business and always making sure there was time for golf and boating!
Francis, owner of Sullivan Concrete Textures, introduced architectural concrete paving to Southern California in the early 1960's. He proved to be a true pioneer and innovator within the concrete industry and it became his life's passion. He truly was a man of integrity and compassion who was well liked and respected by many. Having touched so many lives, he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his two brothers, Pat and Jerry Sullivan of Los Angeles and his three daughters, Sharon, Gail and Reenie; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2100 Mar Vista Dr., Newport Beach, 92660 on Friday, January 11th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Pacific View Cemetery, 3500 Pacific View Dr., Corona del Mar, CA 92625.
