Frank England Jr, 72, of Roscoe, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, April 15. Born, May 23, 1940, the son of Frank and Lois (Ridgeway) England, in Byron, Il.
Frank joined the U.S. Army in 1960, and proudly served during Vietnam War where he earned the prestigious Purple Heart award. He married the love of his life Elfriede (Hodel) England in Vienna, Austria on January 10, 1961, and was honorably discharged five years later.
After earning his associates degree, Frank joined the Winnebago County Sheriffs' Department. He served for 27 years, working his way through the ranks and retiring as Major England.
His hobbies included, cheering on the Chicago Bears and fishing, but none more fulfilling than cooking and hosting for his family and friends.
Frank leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Elfriede; sons, Scott, and John (Kathy) England, daughter, Elizabeth (Mark) Jurasek; grandchildren, Tara (Kenneth Edwards), Jordan, Joshua England, and Caitlind Jurasek; great-grandchild, Kai Edwards; brother, Richard (Amy) England; sisters, Dollie Mae (Luverne) Prather, and Frances England; step siblings, Lee Sweet, Donna Sweet-Espy, and Donald Sweet Jr.
He is preceded in death by his mother; granddaughter; Brittany, and Whitney England; and sister, Mary Stull.
Funeral Service 11a.m. Friday, April 19, at First Born Ministries, 8213 N. Alpine Rd, Loves Park. Visitation from 9a.m. till the time of service at the church.
