Franklin "Frank" Andrew Doan, Sr. – a 78 year-old native of Whistler and resident of Mobile, passed away Saturday February 23, 2013. Mr. Doan was a longtime pastor in the Mobile area and retired from South Central Bell after 30 years of service. Mr. Doan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Irvington and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan and was a big supporter of local baseball programs, especially the University of South Alabama Jaguars. Mr. Doan was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence C. and Verna Donaldson Doan. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Woodruff Doan; sons, Franklin A. "Frank" Doan, Jr. (Charlotte) and Michael T. Doan (Kelly); sister, Florence Doan Gomez (Frank); grandchildren, Kevin A. Doan (Tabitha), Joseph A. Doan (Tanya), Jennifer D. O'Rourke (Patrick), Allison M. Doan, and Ashleigh V. Doan; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mmgfuneralhome.com.
