Fred Rogers Ellis, age 51, passed away peacefully at Morristown Medical Center on Friday, March 28, 2014 surrounded by his beloved wife and family. He was married to Elizabeth (Betsy) Sala Ellis for twenty years. They have two wonderful sons; Charlie (13) and Peter (9). Fred was born on February 16, 1963 in Washington, DC and grew up in Arlington, VA. He is the son of John O. Ellis and Amanda R. Ellis of Amherst, MA. Fred has 3 amazing older brothers and 3 adoring sisters-in-law; Carlton and Donna Ellis of Seattle, WA; William Ellis and Anne Stohrer of Morrisville, VT and Courtney Ellis and Amina Bhatia of Atlanta, GA. Fred valued family above all else; his wife, two sons and his 3 older brothers were the main focus of his life. He attended Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. He lived in Seattle, WA and Ponte Vedra, FL prior to settling in Sparta (Lake Mohawk), NJ in 2003. He worked in the financial industry in various managerial capacities for 25 years. Fred was very involved in his church, scouting and coaching his sons' soccer teams. Fred had a special passion for playing lacrosse which also led him to meet Betsy on the sidelines of the lacrosse field in 1991. He was a devoted father and husband, an outdoorsman, a gourmet cook, vivacious and bright. He was known for his warm-hearted nature, charisma, quick wit and generous loving spirit. Fred was a loving man who touched the heart of everyone he met.
The family attends Unity of Sussex County where services will be held Saturday, April 5 at 3:00 pm.
