Fred J. Wolff, Jr.
Fred passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital on January 23, 2013 at age 87 surrounded by loving family members.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, E. Elsie (Frantz) Wolff and children: David Wolff and his wife Lauren, Gloria Drayer, Richard Wolff, and Patricia Deitch and her husband David. Eight grandchildren: Michael Wolff, Jennifer Stathatos, Emily Woodford, David Deitch, Michael Deitch, Elizabeth Drayer, James Wolff, and Benjamin Wolff. Five great grandchildren, and two brothers, George and Robert. A daughter, Barbara and a granddaughter, Jessica, predeceased him.
Fred loved family, sports, and music. He was in the Yankee baseball organization from 1943 to 1948 as a left-handed pitcher having gone there directly after high school graduation. He was in the army in World War II and was the heavyweight boxing champ of Camp Lee, VA. He was also in the Pacific Olympics during WW II.
Upon returning from army service, he graduated from Pottsville Business School. Fred was a supervisor at TRW, an insurance company business partner, and retired from Quaker Oats. He taught trumpet for 5 years at a local music school. He was Knight's of Columbus and Friday Night Golf League member. He coached Little League baseball for twenty years.
There will be a visitation at 10 AM and a Mass of Christian Burial at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Camp Hill on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 11 AM. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetary in Mechanicsburg.
