Fredrick A. Leggett, 84, of Jupiter, FL, formerly of Manasquan, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, FL. Born in Spring Lake Heights, he lived in Manasquan, before moving to Jupiter, FL many years ago.
Mr. Leggett owned and operated Leggett's Sand Bar in Manasquan from 1969 to 1987. He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army and had served 44 years in fire service. He was past president of the Monmouth County Cheifs Association, Ex-Chief of Manasquan Fire Company #2 1972-1973, he was the Monmouth County Fire Marshall for 12 years and served as vice president of the Fire Marshalls Association of NJ .
Mr. Leggett was pre-deceased by his parents, Edward and Lillian(Linwald) and his daughter Caroline in 1993. He is survived by four children, Bobby, Edward, James and Diane; three grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle.
