Glen E. McClure, Ph.D., Captain US Army (retired), passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in Sugar Land, Texas, on March 6, 2013, at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Glen is predeceased by his father, James McClure, mother, Edna Tucker, and brother, Don E. McClure.
He is survived by his wife, Karen McClure, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Rita and Wilson Welborn of Longview, TX, six children and three sons-in-law: Sheila Taylor of Canyon Lake, TX, Glena Sue Smith of Riverside, TX, Amy and Steven Halliburton of Houston, Robyn and Rusty Jackson of Houston, Lea Ann and Craig Coffey of Sugar Land, and Ron Rushing of Houston, sixteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four nephews, one niece, and many friends and colleagues.
Glen was born in Dallas, Texas, but raised in Houston. Initially, he joined the United States Air Force and later enlisted in the United States Army. He served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was awarded both a Bronze Star and Silver Star for Gallantry in Action. He retired after 20 years of service.
He returned to Houston where he founded his own private practice, New Horizons Counseling Services, and worked at TDC - Jester Unit. During this time he earned his Ph.D. at the age of 62.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Missouri City, at 1 PM, with a reception immediately following in the fellowship hall. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
