John Hawkins

Dear Jenkins Family,

I am sadden to hear of our loss of Gale. I remember meeting Gale for the first time through my grandfather John Hawkins in the early 1990's. I was fresh out of Michigan State looking to become a builder. With the introduction and a hand shake my life was forever changed. Everytime I called and heard those words "Lumber Yard" from the other end of the phone, I knew I was in good hands. Gale gave me years of mentoring, friendship, and even unlimited credit. He believed in me and helped mold me into the person I am today. I am truly honored for the time Gale was a part of my life. I know his memory will be forever in my heart as it is in yours.

Sincerely,

John J. Hawkins

Judy and Family, we are so sorry for your loss and the loss Tekonsha has suffered, Gale was the true epitomy of what Jesus called us to be, a servant, but with Gale that wasn't enough he was a great servant. We have read all the messages from far and wide and they all speak volumns of what kind of person Gale was. It has been an honor to know Gale and to see how a mere man can inspire others by living a good Christian life, he was truly an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with. Judy, you and the entire family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Mrs Jenkins, Tim, Tony and all who are saddened,
Of all the people I've ever crossed paths with in my 50 years on earth. "Mr. Jenkins" epitomized family man and love for community! From the time he was first on the seen of our house fire! To the times I needed building supplies and he said "pay when u can". To the reassuring feeling that always came over me when I would see him at ALL our sporting events. Not to mention all thee overnight stays and meals at the Jenkins household. I know how bad this hurts for you guys. He was and always will be considered a GREAT MAN by all who knew him!!

Dear Jenkins family,
I will always remember Gale at church in Tekonsha, or at the lumber yard, or at sporting events. He was a man who loved life and always made others feel welcome be in at church or at his business. I am glad to have grown up in Tekonsha with Tim and knew Tony as the youngest brother! Later I was honored to be part of Tim and Kris's life when they welcomed Katie into the world. I saw things come full circle when Tim coached my son Don Seekman in basketball. Gale was "Mr. Tekonsha" and we from that small town are all better for knowing him. My parents were also saddened to hear of his passing. My step-dad Bob Merchant was the fire chief of Union City during the same time Gale was the chief in Tekonsha. We are all praying for your family!

Judy and Family
Gale was a long time Family Friend, starting with my great Uncle Larry Miller and Judy's dad Clare and Gale's dad Joe. He and Judy grew up with my Cousins Steve and Jackie Miller. Their Father Larry and my Grandfather Carl were Brothers.
I personally got to know Gale after moving to Tekonsha in 1997, and working for Randall Foods running their Warehouse. Over the years I bought lots of supplies for the building from Gale before his retirement. Anywhere I run into Gale he always asked how I was doing, we had many chats over the years. Darlene knew Gale and Judy from living in Tekonsha and the Church. Judy had taught all three of Darlene's children and most of the Grandchildren. We appreciated all her hard work dedication.
Like my Uncle Larry and Grandpa Carl, Gale will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
