Gayle A. Beddow, 68, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011.
Celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Stephen United Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. David Green officiating.
Ms. Beddow was born in Olwein, Iowa, to the late Robert and Ardes Wharram.
Ms. Beddow taught third grade for 39 years in Texas. Her devotion to education was widely received in the Humphrey's Highland Elementary School District for 36 years. She touched the lives of thousands of students and their families.
Gayle retired from Amarillo Independent School District in 2002 and spent hours enjoying friends, family, and her pets. She was an avid gardener, letterwriter, and Medi-Park duck-feeder. Recycling was a big part of her life.
Survived by a daughter, Julieann Beddow of Amarillo; a sister, Joan Wharram Hayes of Hiawatha, Iowa; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Paige Wharram of Stanley, Iowa; and five nieces and nephews.
Burial will be held in Stanley Iowa Cemetery. Gayle wanted any Memorials to be sent to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.
