George Eugene Martin, 73, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 4:53 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Proctor Hospital.
He was born May 23, 1939 in Mexico, MO to Turner G. and Francis M. (Bramble) Martin. He first married Janet Decker and later married Susan Ferguson of April 16, 2011 in Peoria Heights. She survives.
Also surviving are his children Monty Martin, James Martin, and Shawn Martin of Peoria; 3 grandchildren including Brittany Martin of Peoria; 3 step-children, 8 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren and his former wife Janet Kreeger of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, George, Jr. and an infant sister, Susie.
George was a Navy veteran. He was a member of Creve Coeur American Legion post # 1234, VFW 2602 and the Navy Club. He was also a member of Peoria Elks Lodge #20 and Masonic Lodge #1134.
George was a man of many trades. He loved woodworking, cooking and especially, tinker on the computer.
George worked at Caterpillar Inc. for over 30 years retiring on August 1, 1998 as a foreman.
There will be no services. Cremation will be accorded. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to any animal shelter charity of the donor’s choice.
