Captain George Edward Robertson, U.S. Army retired, 67, answered his final duty call on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at UAB Medical Center.
Born in Midland, MD on September 6, 1946, he was the son of the late Frank Edward "Dukes" and Mary Kathleen "Cass" Robertson. He was preceded in death by sisters Chloe and husband Singh Dhillon, Jeannie and husband Burr Shillingburg, both of Annapolis, MD, brother Frank Edward Robertson, Bisbee, AZ, and brothers-in-law Buck Martin, Midland, and Richard Brown, Oldtown.
Survivors include Ed's wife Rebecca Spencer Martin Robertson, Sylacauga, AL, son Ryan, Houston, TX, sisters Cassie Martin, Sykesville, MD, Maggie Hoff, Annapolis, MD and Teri Brown, Cumberland, MD in addition to a many nieces and nephews.
In civilian life, Ed managed the Credit Bureau of Elizabeth City, NC, a Check Cashing Headquarters office in Birmingham, and retired from General Machinery Company in Birmingham as warehouse manager.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL. The body will be cremated and final interment later with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
