GERALD I. ARNSON, age 85, died July 18, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Carole J. Arnson (nee Bach); devoted father of Craig (Lise Marinelli) Arnson of IL, Scott (Yaffa) Arnson of MD and Todd (Janice) Arnson of CA; dear brother of Armond D. Arnson and Sidney Owen Arnson (both deceased); loving grandfather of Max, Sam, Natanel, Avital, Eli, Uri, Yisroel, Elijah, Amanda and Tabitha Arnson, Marcus Marinelli and Grace Lawrence; loving great grandfather of Leo Alleman. Services will be held at BERKOWITZ-KUMIN-BOOKATZ MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1985 S. TAYLOR RD., CLEVELAND HTS., Sunday, July 21 at 1 PM. Interment Bet Olam Cemetery (Park Synagogue section). Gerald I. Arnson passed away on July 18, 2013 at the age of 85. He died at Vinney Hospice and Palliative Care of Montefiore in Beachwood, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Jerry was the devoted son of Leo Arnson and Esther Kalinsky Arnson (both deceased) and the loving brother of Armond D. Arnson and Sidney Owen Arnson (both deceased).
Jerry also was the devoted and loving husband of his wife of fifty-four years, Carole J. Arnson (nee Bach). He is survived by his sons Craig Arnson (Lise Marinelli), Scott Arnson (Yaffa Arnson), Todd Arnson (Janice Arnson), his grandchildren, Max, Sam, Natanel, Avital, Eli, Uri, Yisroel, Elijah, Amanda and Tabitha Arnson, Marcus Marinelli and Grace Lawrence, and his great grandchild, Leo Alleman.
At the time of his death, Jerry resided in Solon. He was born in Cleveland and lived in the Cleveland area for a total of 80 years. He also spent five years in Dayton, Ohio.
Jerry graduated from Cleveland Heights High School, The Ohio State University and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
Jerry was the ultimate workhorse in both his personal and professional lives. He started his professional career working as an accountant for the Internal Revenue Service. Eventually, he attended law school at night, while he was married and had his three children. After graduation, he started practicing law at Goldman, Bogin & Fox in Dayton, Ohio and spent most of his legal career as a real estate attorney with the firm of Kahn, Kleinman, Yanowitz & Arnson (n/k/a Taft Stettinius and Hollister).
Jerry belonged to Park Synagogue and was a member of the Synagogue’s Men’s Club. For many years, Jerry was the Chairman of the Club’s Picnic Committee and was known for hosting the Club’s popular annual picnic at Geauga Lake Amusement Park.
Services will be held at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S. Taylor Rd., Cleveland Hts., Sunday, July 21 at 1 PM. Interment Bet Olam Cemetery (Park Synagogue section). Family will receive friends at the Arnson residence, 37177 Cherrybank Dr., Solon, Sunday until 8 PM and Monday from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM.
