Mr. Gerald Eugene Ash, 65, of Buford, GA died Friday afternoon, 5/25/2012, at his residence.
He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of the late Frank Nelms and Roxie Faith Crowe Ash. He was of the Baptist faith, served in the U.S. Navy and the Coast Guard, and was a retired commercial pilot for Delta Airlines.
Survivors include: His Wife, Diane Sowell Ash of Buford, A Daughter and Son-in-Law, Sonja and Shaun Wiblin, A Son, Frank Nelms Ash of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Father and Mother-in-Law, Jack and Helen R. Sowell of Prattville, Alabama, Sisters and Brothers-in-Law, Linda A. Creech of Pinson, Alabama, Brenda A. and Paul Riddle of Odenville, Alabama, and Karen A. and Louie Brown of Trussville, Alabama, Brothers and Sisters-in-Law, Paul and Carrie Ash of Springville, Alabama, and Jeff and Pauline Ash of Wetumpka, Alabama, Grandchildren, Karrisa Wiblin, Ashtin Wiblin and Dakota Wiblin, God's gift of family, Matt, Amy and Ashley Warmerdam, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Ash will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at the Jackson Baptist Church in Sylvania, Georgia, with the Rev. Rusty Sowell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Dave Nieuwehuis, Fuad Milak, Fred Lambert, Mitt Bradley, Matt Warmerdam and Jim Keet.
The remains will be placed in the church at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday to lie in state until the funeral hour.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
