Gilbert L. Padovani, 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Centra State Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Padua, Italy, Gilbert had lived in Brooklyn before moving to Manalapan in 1965. He was an assistant vice president for Continental Insurance Company in Neptune for 26 years retiring in 1995. Gilbert was a US Army combat veteran serving during the Korean War. He loved hunting and fishing, and was a member of Trout Unlimited, the Long Island Fly Rodders, and the NRA. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gloria; his daughters, Annalisa & Stephanie; his brother, Giancarlo; and his parents, Giorgio & Giulietta. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Barbara Padovani; his daughter, Catherine Padovani; his sons: Christopher Padovani, Marco Padovani, & Bruno Padovani; his sister, Grace; 7 grandchildren; and other loving family & friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 4-8pm at the Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, 3377 Rt. 9, Old Bridge, NJ, with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Interment will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11:30am at Long Island National Cemtery, 2040 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gilbert can be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, or the World Wildlife Fund, or Casting For Recovery.
