Born July 14, 1925 in Tunnelton, West Virginia, he was raised by several foster families; however, most influenced by "Ma Fleming."
At age seventeen, he and a few buddies went down to the local draft board and joined the Army. Glenn received his basic training at Fort Knox, KY. , then was shipped overseas where he joined the 14th Armored Division 94th Recon. fighting at the Battle of the Bulge. While on patrol behind enemy lines, he came under strafing attack where he was seriously wounded requiring four months of recuperation in Army hospitals.
Back home after the war, he went to Washington, D.C.looking for work. In 1951 he married Barbara Ann Bolyard. In 1959, they were blessed with a beautiful Christmas gift, an 8 month old son.
He resided in Washington, DC and Maryland with his wife and son. After many years in the grocery business, he spent the next twenty years as a "Mailman."
Glenn and Barbara retired to Dunedin, Florida in 1991 where they not only enjoyed time with their family and grandchildren, but also with their neighbors.
His favorite hobbies were walking his dog, Lexi, visiting with his wonderful neighbors and working in the yard. He soon earned the title "The Mayor of Squire Court!"
At 87, "Pop" and Lexi relocated to Cary, NC to live with his son, Gene daughter-in-law, Lisa and grandchildren Alayna and Cole.
Fondest of memories were Grandparents Day at Meredith College, Strawberry Picking, Veteran's Day at the YMCA and socializing with his new neighbors.
He is survived by son, Gene daughter-in-law, Lisa grandchildren Alayna and Cole of Cary, NC and Keri of Triangle, VA.
