Moss Bluff - Gordon Armistead, 94, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013, in Jennings Veterans War Home.
Gordon was born and raised all his life in Moss Bluff. The Armistead family was one of the pioneer families in Moss Bluff. He was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and served as a Lector for many years. He retired from Citgo as a heavy equipment operator. Gordon was a WWII United States Army Veteran. He received a Bronze Star and WWII Victory Medal. He was a loving kind and gentle man to all his family and friends. He never met a stranger he didn't like.
Survivors include his son, Ronald "Ronnie" Armistead and wife, Vickie of Moss Bluff; a daughter, Sherry Trahan and husband, George of Lake Charles; a daughter-in-law, Judy Armistead of Moss Bluff; a brother, Cecil Armistead of Moss Bluff; a sister, Laura Mae Goos of Moss Bluff; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Sidney and Martha Armistead; wife, Marjorie Armistead; a son, Gordon Glenn "GG" Armistead; four brothers, Albert, Ralph, Billy and Ora Armistead; two sisters, Agnes Whiddon and Lucille Williams.
His life celebration will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, in Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake. The Msgr. Charles Dubois will officiate. Visitation will be Monday 4-8pm at funeral home and will resume Tuesday 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Old Richie Cemetery in Moss Bluff.
