Gregory Michael Ames born to Robert and Dorothy Ames on July 11, 1947 in Lancing, Michigan passed on December 17, 2009. He was 62 years old.
Greg was a passionate sports fan and played a rigorous fantasy football game. He was an active bowler with a 1st place team with the Stevens Dentist Lab II. He enjoyed football and golf at C.L. McLane High School and continued as par golfer for many years. He served his country in the US Air Force as an AirEvac Medical Technician taking care of patients and was tech on AirEvac flights to Vietnam. He was honorably discharged January 25, 1972. He attended RIO Hondo College where he obtained an AA in Accounting.
Being a person who loved nature he moved from California in 1995 to Yakima, a place with a less city like setting and was closer to nature, where he felt more at home. He enjoyed the national parks in the Northwest region, especially the Oregon coast. He also took a hand at gardening later in life with a love in growing roses and vegetable gardens.
Greg is survived by his Father Robert and Mother Dorothy in Walla Walla, WA, his daughter Marie and granddaughter Nichole in Yakima, son Randy and two grandsons Joshua and Jason in Kansas, and his great grandson Vincent. He was a man of action with little words. His deeds spoke for themselves and his reliable nature was a solid foundation for family and friends to lean on when needed. He had many adventures in traveling which ranged from climbing a treacherous mountain side to stand with his son waiting to be rescued, to calm scenic drives up and down the pacific coast with his daughter, and then granddaughter.
