went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2011 at the age of 87. He was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church. H. Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Adileen Alford; son, Roger Alford (Jan) of Manor, TX; daughter, Dianne Shaw (Barry) of Vestavia Hills; 4 grandchildren: Wendy Bauer (Steve), Casey Obringer (Will), Mike Shaw (Shelley), and Tim Shaw (Tina); 5 great grandchildren: Steven, Joshua, Melodi, Canon, and Madeline; brother-in-law, Ted Gavin (Arlene); and sister-in-law, Ruth Alford. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Hunter Street Baptist Church with graveside services following at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale, AL.
