Harold Max Mattax, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at Lutheran Life Villages. Born Feb. 15, 1930 in Adams County, he retired in 1992 after 40 years with the Fort Wayne Newspapers. He was a member of Quarter Century Club at Fort Wayne Newspapers, and was an adult reading tutor for Three Rivers Literacy Alliance from 1993-1998,and was a regular blood donor. Surviving are his wife, Roberta Joann Mattax, of Fort Wayne; son, Stephen (Debra) Mattax, of Noble, OK; daughter, Paula (Michael) Cassaday, of Fort Wayne; son, Gary (Sara) Mattax, of Fort Wayne; and son, Brian (Sharon) Mattax, of Sammamish, WA; grandchildren, Heather, Nicholas, Nicole, Jason, Andrew, Eric and Craig; and great grandchildren, Jared, Jenna, Emily, E. Max, Anthony, and Blake. Funeral Service is 11:00 am Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Rd. Chapel, 6424 Winchester Rd. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, or Lutheran Life Villages.
