Harriett Evon Bergman, 86, of Port Arthur, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012, in Port Arthur. She was born on March 24, 1927 to Wallace and Jonilee Perkins in Port Arthur.
Mrs. Bergman was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur. She attended The University of Texas and received her Bachelor Degree in Education. She had taught in Austin and Port Arthur. She retired from teaching at St. Catherine's Catholic School. She married William Myers Bergman on August 28, 1948 in Port Arthur. Harriett had served for more than 20 years as secretary for the Port Arthur Community Concert Association. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, sewing, cooking and more importantly raising her children and being involved in her grandchildren's lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her survivors include her husband of 64 years, William Myers Bergman of Port Arthur; three sons, William Blake Bergman and wife Molly of Port Neches, Myers Kim Begman and wife Pam of Hye, TX, Michael Drew Bergman and wife Liz of Bridge City; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A gathering of her family and friends will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home Chapel, Port Arthur.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in the Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home Chapel, Port Arthur with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
