"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1. On January 29, 2012 Harvey George Williams' sure hope was realized when our Lord Jesus Christ welcomed him into His Kingdom.
Born to Peter and Anna (Luidens) Williams on July 4, 1927, Harvey graduated from Sheboygan High School. After high school he served as a firefighter in the United States Navy. When he returned home he re-met and married Charlotte J. Vetten of Sheboygan in 1950. Together in Christ they forged a partnership that lasted 56 years.
Harvey attended Calvin College and later Lakeland College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee graduating in 1968 with a Master of Science degree in Education. He later pursued a PhD. at Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee. Harvey touched the lives of many students in his career as a teacher at the school in Oostburg and later as a Guidance Counselor at Sheboygan North High School. He was actively involved in the Sheboygan County Area Retired Teachers Association and also supported Christian Home Missions.
Harvey and his wife Charlotte were founding members of Calvin Christian Reformed Church. For the past several years Harvey was an active member of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan. His wife preceded him in death.
Loving survivors include his sister, Delores Brill of Oostburg, WI; his children: Forrest (Chris) Williams and family of Georgia, Gail (Aaron) Levine and family of New Mexico, Dorann (Jerry) Schramm of Texas, Nick (Kris) Williams and family of Sheboygan and Susan (Andy) Percival and family of Florida. Harvey also leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many great friends and his church family from Grace OPC.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 4930 Green Valley Lane in Sheboygan with Rev. Brian De Jong, Pastor, officiating. Refreshments will follow at the church after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the Williams' family request memorial funds be sent to either the Sheboygan Christian School or sent to Grace OPC church and designated for foreign mission outreach.
Ballhorn Chapels is assisting the family.

Mr. Williams was my all-time favorite teacher and role model. He gained the respect of his students and made learning meaningful and enjoyable. To this day I remember the "ologies" and bones of the body he taught us in 8th grade science, Shakespeare in senior English, and wise advice from him as a counselor. I've had many teachers and known many more from my own role as a teacher, but none surpassed Mr. Williams. He impacted many people in a most amazing way that will never be forgotten. To his family I extend my most sincere condolences. You are so fortunate to have had such a remarkable father. May his greatness impel you to follow his standards and make the most of your lives.

Dear Friends of Harvey Williams,
Thank you all for your entries and kind comments about our father. Your insights confirm the impressions we as family members had of our father. Your remembrences and insights show the affection and impact that our dad had outside of the family.
I will miss the get togethers we had with his circle of friends from school, church, breakfast clubs, hobbies, fishing, and retirement groups. If you were able to talk with my dad recently you know he was longing to go to his home and be with his Lord. He has now achieved his goal and we are comforted by that fact.
I wish us all the best as we continue our journeys and face our challanges. My dad's guidance and advice will continue to help me get through these and I hope you will continue to benefit from them as well.
Forrest

My deepest sympathy to the entire family of Harvey Williams. I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Williams in 8th grade and he became one of my favorite, most memorable, and unique teachers ever. He inspired me to become a fellow educator and counselor. I had the further great fortune to work with him as a fellow counselor and peer in the Sheboygan school sytem. He was a mentor, a rare individual, a wonderful caring person with extraordinary insights. Harvey had uncanny perceptions, deep and abiding beliefs, and values he lived. I know he touched many lives. I feel blessed he touched mine.

Dear Forrest, Gail, Dorann, Nick & Susan,
We want to express our heartfelt condolences to you and your families in your time of loss. We are however celebrating your father's well lived life and are assured of the celebration that is going on in heaven.
Your parent's faith was a wonderful example to me. I will not forget the memories of visiting at the house and our July 4ths in Oostburg together. Always such good times, with lots of laughs and great discussions around the table. Joyful to know he lives victoriously in His arms!
