Hazel C. Arnold, 95, of Charlotte, died Saturday, December 17, 2011, at CMC – Main in Charlotte. She was born October 16, 1916, the daughter of Ezra and Omega (Williams) Carpenter. Hazel was a beloved wife to Ernest Arnold and devoted mother to Michael Arnold. Although she worked as a homemaker most of her life, Hazel also worked for a Du Pont defense plant during WWII. She had a strong faith and lived it daily. She had many friends in her Sunday school class and Circle at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church. She was church librarian for many years and used to love the sewing circle as long as she was able. Hazel will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; siblings, Stella Helt, Louise Boman, Lawrence Carpenter, Marcel Carpenter, and Cecile Kennedy. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael R. Arnold of Charlotte; sister in-law, Myrtle Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, at 11:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 9401 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28273. Burial will be held in Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the church for the Family Life Center.
