Her life's journey ended, Helen L. Adamus, went home to her Lord on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Helen was born in New Britain, the daughter of Adam and Sophie (Szot) Lukaszek, and attended local schools. A religious woman, Helen loved her church and her Lord dearly, and her faith sustained her through life's many trials. She was a lifelong member of the Church of the Transfiguration, proudly being one of the first members of the Church of the Transfiguration parish after its' orgainization, along with her parents. Helen held the honor of being the first organist of the parish after its inception, and was known for her beautiful singing voice. She was also immensely proud of her Polish heritage. Helen retired from the State of CT., Dept of Transportation, after many years of service.
Helen's family was her world and her greatest joy was the time she spent with them. She will be sadly missed and leaves behind to mourn her passing; two daughters and their spouses, all of New Britain, Christine Cordner and her husband Bruce and Donna Menard and her husband Andy. She also leaves behind the two precious loves of her life, her two grandchildren that she adored - her "Prince Charming" AJ Menard and her beautiful "Butterfly" Rachel Helen Menard. Helen is also survived by a sister Irene Grant of Waterbury, a sister-in-law Gilda Lukaszek of New Britain and many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her brother Stanley Lukaszek and her sister Lottie Kostreva.
Calling hours will be Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 5-8pm at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Family and friends are invited on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 11:00am, to go directly to the Church of the Transfiguration, 8 Concord St., New Britain for the mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Transfiguration Cemetery. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Church of Transfiguration, New Britain.
