Helen M. (Synnott) Bender, age 88, passed away, Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at St Luke's Hospital. She was the daughter of the late William and Blanche (Morin) Synnott.
Born in Fall River, Mrs. Bender lived in the South coast area all of her life. She was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational Technical High School and worked as a home health aide for Coastline Elderly until her retirement. She was a legendary friend of Bill W. for 47 years. She has gone to heaven where she is enjoying double cheeseburgers, hot fudge sundaes and no migraines.
Survivors include her children, Steve Bender and his wife Sue Ann of Mattapoisett; David Bender of New Bedford; Susan Hart and her husband Nick of South Dartmouth, 5 grandchildren, Dawn Bender Sciascia of Maine, Josh Bender and his wife Claudia of Wareham, Danny Bender of New Bedford, Stephanie Bender of England, Lauren Hart of South Dartmouth; 2 Great-grandchildren, Adlai and Daphne Sciascia of Maine and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 10am at Waring-Sullivan Homes of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn Mortuary followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 11 am at St Joseph Church, 74 Spring Street, Fairhaven, MA. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4-7 pm. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-1942.
