Memorial services for Herbert C. "John" Brook, 69, of Temple are 2:00 pm Monday, March 30, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Temple.
Herbert was born in Zebulon, Georgia on January 26, 1943 to Herbert and Mary Dominey Brook. He married Linda Flentge on August 18, 1972 in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
After high school, Mr. Brook served in the Vietnam War under the United States Army. Among the medals he received were the Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Silver Service Star; Sharpshooter (Rifle); Good conduct Medal; Purple Heart; Combat Infantryman Badge; Army Commendation Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. He then worked many years as a salesman with the Coca-Cola Company.
John died at his home in Temple, Texas on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the age of 69 years and 3 months and is survived by his wife, Linda Brook of Temple; a son and daughter in law, Michael and Angie Brook and a daughter Amanda Brook, all of Temple; brother, Jeffrey Brook of West Virginia and a sister, Shirley Kinard of Jackson, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Gavin and Andrea Brook.
