Hermoine R. Meyer, daughter of John U. and Mabel L. Roehl, passed away after a long illness on Dec. 9, 2013, in Baltimore.
Born Finela Hermoine Roehl on Feb. 19, 1915, in Hamburg, Ill., and married to Samuel B. Meyer of Springfield in 1936, Mrs. Meyer passed away at age 98, just two months short of her 99th birthday. She was the beloved wife of Samuel Meyer for 66 years until his passing in 2002. She was the mother of Jon K. and Jeffrey K. Meyer, the grandmother of David C. and Laura T. Meyer, and the great-grandmother of Riley, Charlotte and Alexis Ro.
Mrs. Meyer is survived by her son, Jon K. Meyer, MD (daughter-in-law, Eleanor Y. Meyer) of Lutherville, Md. She is also survived by her grandson, David C. Meyer of Iowa City, Iowa and her granddaughter, Laura T. Meyer, MD (husband, Richard Y. Ro, MD) of Cary, N.C., and their three children.
Her son Jeffrey Kent passed away in 2001.
She was a graduate of Springfield High School and after business school served as a secretary at businesses and institutions around Springfield, including St. Johns Hospital. Before the death of her husband they traveled extensively, experiences that brought her much happiness. She was active in the West Side Church of Christ, and lived at Lewis Memorial Christian Village until 2008.
Following her wishes, her ashes will be scattered with her husband's. A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday June 2, 2014 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will meet friends from 11:00am until the time of service.
