Hilda M. Tostrud passed away peacefully in Scottsdale, AZ on June 13th at the age of 97. Hilda was born in Bowman, ND on March 1, 1917. She was the 6th of 10 children born to Ole and Irene Lewison. She met the love of her life Milan and they were married on July 16, 1938. They moved to Milwaukee in 1957. Hilda lost Milan on November 24, 1984 at the age of 69. Through the love of family she lived a long and rewarding life.
One interesting fact was when Hilda met Milan they were introduced by her sister Esther and Milan's brother Irvin, who were married. It was not unusual for brothers to marry their spouse's sister. Milan and Irvin were twins but not with each other. She was preceded in death by her husband Milan, son Douglas and son-in-law Ronald Gavin. She is survived by her daughter Beverly Gavin of Greenfield, WI; her son James (Debra) Tostrud of Scottsdale, AZ and daughter in-law Margaret Tostrud of Sun City, AZ. She is also survived by her lone sibling Bud Lewison of Bowman, ND; her 12 Grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She lived her last 2 years at Villa Ocotillo Assisted Living Center in Scottsdale AZ. Our family would like to thank the entire staff for the excellent care they provided her until the end. To our immediate family in Wisconsin and Hawaii, our mother and grandmother loved each and every one of you. Be content she is now at peace. Please visit www.melcherchapelofroses.com
