Horace R. Fretwell, Jr. (85) passed away on December 30th at his home with family surrounding him. A native of Jacksonville, he was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church where he had held the office of Trustee and was a member of the Faithful Friends Sunday School class.
Horace served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War and retired from Bell South after thirty-five years of service. He was a member of the Riverside Masonic Lodge F&AM.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha C. Fretwell and four children, Frances F. Rhodes, Mark Carlton Fretwell, Helen E. Fretwell, Susan F. McKenzie, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a sister, Elaine Fretwell Fox and three nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Avondale United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home.
