Howard R. Bain, Sr., 88, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday November 3, 2012 at home. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a US Navy Veteran of WW II. As a salesman, he worked for Booth Fisheries and Bill Rapp Pontiac before retiring. Mr. Bain was a longtime member of the Onondaga Harness Horseman's Association and the US Trotters Association. He was predeceased by a son, Howard Jr., 2 sisters, Elsie and Miriam and a brother, David.

He is survived by 3 sons; Jeffrey, of Omaha, NE, Brian (Patricia), of Camillus and Gary (Claudia), of Ft. Worth, TX, daughter-in-law; Carm Bain, of Solvay, 9 grandchildren; Corey, Matt, Scott, Patrick, Melanie, Vanessa, Amanda, Alex and Andrew, 2 brothers; John, of Pittsburgh, PA and Harvey, Jr. (Barbara), of Monroeville, PA and many nieces, nephews and friends from the equine community.

Funeral services and burial in Onondaga County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery is private. There are no calling hours. BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay, has care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Syracuse VA Medical Center, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY.
