Howard Wesley Boles, Sr.
Howard Wesley Boles, Sr., 86, passed away at Taylor House Hospice on June 8, 2013 in Des Moines, IA. There will be no funeral, but a memorial celebration of life, Saturday, June 29, 2013. His cremated remains will be laid to rest at Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery.
Howard was born in LaSalle Peru, IL and graduated from LaSalle Peru High School. During the summer he worked with his father on the Illinois Central Railroad as a fireman. After high school, Howard joined the U.S. Army and served as a military policeman in Germany. Following the service, he played pro baseball in the U.S. and South America. Howard's favorite team to play for was the 1947 Clinton Cubs. In 1948, he married Lucille Jane Larson who preceded him in death. Howard was employed by Alcoa Aluminum for nine years and owned his own businesses in Davenport and Florida before his retirement. He was an avid sports man and a great family man.
Howard is survived by his wife, Sandra Boles of Des Moines; sons, Howard Jr. of NY and David of FL and grandchildren, Cassie of Washington D.C. and Charles of CA.
