Ida Ann Balzer was born at home on June 9th, 1916 in Chinook, Montana. When she was 5 years old, the family moved to a farm in Cordell, Oklahoma where they raised chickens, cotton and cattle. Her last year of education was the 9th grade, which she completed at the Bible Academy in Corn, Oklahoma. She worked as a nanny/housekeeper before getting married to the love of her life (Herb Balzer) in 1935 at the age of 19. During her early-married years, Ida did farm labor, which included picking cotton.
The Balzer family then moved to California in 1948. Ida worked at a bakery in Reedley and continued to do bakery work after the family moved to Fresno in 1956. She was a dedicated employee for Karsh's Bakery for 20 years and worked at various locations.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Catherine; her 2 brothers, Albert and Paul; her 2 sisters, Lydia and Ruby; her husband of 70 years, Herb and her 2 sons, Billy Ray and Norman.
Surviving relatives are daughter Barbara Balzer Swan and husband Bob of Clovis; son Gary Balzer and wife Deanna of Hanford; daughter-in-law Marylee Balzer of Armona; granddaughter Michelle Smith and husband Paul of Clovis, granddaughter Deb Balzer Mouret of Morro Bay, grandson David Triplitt and wife Traci of Fresno and 5 great grandchildren, Max, Sophie, Christelle, Dawson, and Toryn.
Ida had a very personal relationship with her Savior and attended Peoples Church for many years. She was a very loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. She was precious to all that knew her and she was always ready with a big hug, a beautiful smile and a listening ear. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
