Ida J. Becker, 80, of Atwood Rd., Moravia, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A lifelong area resident, Ida was born October 26, 1931 in Cortland, a daughter of the late Frank R. and Mary Louise Minor Call.
She was the co-proprietor, along with her husband Jim, of 281 Bowl from 1971-1993.
Ida dedicated her life to raising her children and creating a happy home for her family.
Know by all as "mom", especially at 281 Bowl, Ida was inducted into the Cortland Bowling Association Hall of Fame, bowling for 38 years in the Wednesday Night Specialty Trophy Ladies League at 281 Bowl. She loved to travel to the many tournaments, especially Las Vegas and "Up North".
She was also a active member of the Cortland MOOSE for many years.
She is survived by her five children, Edward J. (Cathy) Becker of Moravia; Karen Sue (Tom) Brown of Little York; Eileen J. (Rich) Damianos of Cortland; Theresa A. (Duff) Ripley of Cortland and Scott F. Becker (Anne Bean) of Cortland. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, her brother, John Call of North Syracuse, an 'adopted' daughter, Jane Park of Virgil, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ida was predeceased by her husband Milton "Jim' Becker on December 12, 2010 and by a sister, Frances Randall and brother, Robert Call.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 with Rev. Matthew Binkewicz officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Becker's name may be directed to a Hospice Organization in your community.
