Mrs. Irene Mary (Morgan) Ahl, age 83, of North Reading, died on March 11, 2013 at her home after a brief illness. She was the wife of Hjalmar L. "Swede" Ahl, with whom she had been married for 64 years.
Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Jane G. (Gillen) Morgan. She graduated from St. Mary's Girls High School, Lynn. Irene then lived in Saugus, Hampstead, NH and Reading, and lived in North Reading for the psat three years.
For many years she worked in Retail.
Irene enjoyed crafts and sold many of her creations. She was especially known for her Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.
In addition to her husband, she was the mother of Donna Rodgers and her husband Donald of Derry, NH, Michael Ahl and his wife Deborah of Reading, and Annamarie Ahl and her husband Philip Marvel of North Reading. She also leaves a sister Doris J. Denham and her husband Kenneth of Lakeville, MA, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Cash. She was also the sister of the late Marjorie Rush.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 12:00 Noon in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Burial in Wood End Cemetery, Reading. Relatives and friends invited. A Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene's memory may be made to a charity of choice.
