Irene M. (Chabot) Dorr, age 89, passed away peacefully at the Gosnell memorial Hospice House on November 6, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was born in Gorham, NH on August 14, 1920. She was one of 13 children of the late Felix and Laura (Martel) Chabot. She attended local schools and graduated from Gorham High School in 1939. Following high school, she went to beautician school. She was a beautician in the Portland and South Portland area for many years. After retiring, she continued to do hair for the shut-ins and disabled folks. She also worked in daycare centers for many years. She loved children and left many wonderful memories with them all. Her last job was at the Maine Mall Food Court, finally retiring (again) when she was eighty. She had a compassionate, caring, gentle heart, loved unconditionally and will be sadly missed. She loved to knit, play beano, garden, fish and watch The Price is Right. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She bowled in a league until she was 85 and had some of the highest scores on her team. Her faith in her church St. John the Baptist and her religion ran deep.
What she enjoyed most was spending time with all of her family.
She was predeceased by her brothers Lawrence Chabot and Roland Chabot, her sisters Lucy Thorne Oleson, Eva Hatch, Dorothy Mc Dougal and Oliviene Aubin.
She is survived by her two sons, Rodney C. Dorr and wife Phyllis of Claremont, NH, Richard F. Dorr Jr. and wife Sandra of Saco, Maine and daughter Linda G. Desrochers of Gorham Maine. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren April Livermore, Rodney Dorr Jr, Angela Preston, Lisa Dorr, Shelly Kunz, Angela Fecteau and great-grandchildren Monika, Danielle, Tori, Justin, Alexis, Matthew, Michael and Shannon.
Funeral services will be held in Gorham, NH at Fleury-Patry Funeral Home at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 with Sr. Monique Therriault officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
