Lewis, Lee, 87, passed away from this life July 27, 2013. He was born July 24, 1926 in Manford, Oklahoma to Alpharetta Strough. At the age of 9 he moved to Gooding, Idaho to live with his Aunt and Uncle. He worked in the VanCouver shipyard, and at the age of 18 he joined the Army. Lee was stationed in Whitesands, New Mexico, and then served in Japan. June 13, 1949 he was married to Minnie Thompson in Oswego, Kansas. June 25, 1950 they had their first child, Linda Jean, born in El Paso, Texas. In 1950, he was stationed in St. Louis, Washington. In 1952, he was deployed to Germany. Three months later, in 1953, Minnie and Linda joined him in Germany. June 12, 1953 they had their second child, Joyce Irene, born in Landstuhl, Germany. Lee spent a total of 9 years in the army. May 24, 1956, they had their third child, Barbara Ann, born in Wichita, KS. Lee worked for Beech Air Craft from 1954 to 1988 as a welder and crew chief. In 1960, Lee and Minnie were baptized into Christ. He served as an elder from 1967 to 1970 at the Haysville Church of Christ. He served Emporia Avenue Church of Christ as a deacon from 1977 to 1982, and as an elder from 1982 to 2004. Lee was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and Christian. He and Minnie were married 64 years before the Lord called him home. He is survived by his wife, Minnie, of the home; daughters, Linda (Lloyd) of Kingman, Joyce (Herb) of Wichita, Barbara ( David) of Beaver, OK; sister, Dorothy Barber of Kansas City, MO; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Resthaven Mortuary. Interment to follow.
