Barker, J. Stacey of New Berlin died Tuesday Evening, age 90 years.
He served in the US Army Air Corps throughout WWII and was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack and various Pacific campaigns. After the war he completed an engineering degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and post graduate work at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He worked for many years at the Allis Chalmers Corporation in the Steam Turbine Division and also worked on projects for the US Space Program. He later worked for the Falk (Sundstrand) Corporation.
He served for many years on the New Berlin Board of Education, including serving as President, and on the Council for Local History for the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. In the 1970s he was candidate for mayor of New Berlin. He is survived by his daughter Brooke Barker of New Berlin, son Alex of Columbia, Missouri and grandchildren Aiden, Rhys, and Elliot. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, sister Minnie Combs and brothers Alfred, Douglas and Roger. Visitation Saturday, August 27, 10AM-12NOON at the funeral home.
