After a long, interesting life, Jean C. Choate died of natural causes in her home on June 6, 2014. She was a woman who lived her life on her own terms and died on her own terms. She had a wonderful sense of humor and dry wit. She was always generous and willing to help anyone that asked. Jean has survived many things in her life that few people would be able to. She had strength of character and loyalty beyond measure.
She was born in Trinidad, Texas on May 31, 1924 to Cuba L. Ray and Delia M Ray. She moved to Dallas from Houston in 1959. She was owner and operator of both the Ships Private Club in Oak Cliff and the Idle Rich Lounge in downtown Dallas.
She was married to Billy G. Choate in April of 1973. She is preceded in death by both Her husband and her parents. Her siblings: Melba Jacobs; Mildred Whitson and Kenneth A. Ray also predeceased her as well. She is survived by her daughter, Janice M. Conway and grand dog, Kirby Conway of Reston, VA. Her granddaughter, Traci L. Trull of Waxahachie, TX and her great-granddaughters, Brooke McKenna Trull and Taylor Alexandra Trull of Waxahachie. Also, survived by nephew, Danny Perugini and his wife Bunnie of Linden, Alabama.
It is a great comfort to know that she is now at rest with all of those that she loved that had gone on before her. She will never be forgotten by those of us who loved her and the friends that are left behind to cherish her memory. After her cremation, her ashes will be taken to Las Vegas by her daughter. Jean always wanted the one more trip to Vegas and now she will be there forever.
